Rotary FAQ:
Rotary is an organization of business and professional people united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and help build goodwill and peace in the world.

Weekly Hightlights

Guest Flags
Ron Walters and Debbie High both brought flags back from their respective travels and hosting.  Ron was in Spain and visited Rotary in Madrid.  Evidently, the cost of attending is pretty pricey but the meetings are a relaxed afternoon lunch
that covers a real mid-day break.  Debbie provided a flag from Japan from her recent experience as host of the Rotary exchange.

Awards
The District Conference recently ended and the Charleston Vandalia Rotary took home three awards this year.  The first was from the Rotary Shares Program, the Dictionary Project and the Shelter Box Projects.  Congratulations to all of us on these fine achievements.

Water Project

There’s still time to donate to the Ghana Water project.  Michael Keeney has been collecting member contributions in a big ole water jug.  The contributions will be matched.  This is a small project that will make a big difference in the health of people in Ghana by providing safe drinking water and eradicating a nasty and deadly worm.

Save the Date
Our yearly outing at the Power Park is tentatively set for June 30th.  We’ll be letting you know what you need to do to sign up for an evening at the ballpark as soon as the date is confirmed.  So stay tuned.

WV Read Aloud
Cynthia Kolsun is in charge of the signup sheet for the Read Aloud program scheduled for Malden.  If you missed the signup sheet and are interested in participating in this project check with Cynthia next meeting.

Speaker Notes

Thanks go out to Tony Demeo, Coach of the University of Charleston Football team.  He moved to Charleston two years ago and has swung into full gear to organize a professional college football team where academics are as important as athletics.  After hearing him speak, it makes you want to go to one of the games just to check out his up and coming team.

Upcoming Speaker

Join us Wednesday as we welcome Amy McLaughlin, Re-Store Director of Habitat for Humanity.
