Weekly Hightlights

Thanks Again
As always, we want to say thank you to Robert Chilton and Jane Cline for opening their house to Rotary so that we could celebrate the 60th birthday of our newly elected president, Karen Price. Even though the skies threatened, and did in fact rain it was a pleasant evening to mark such a milestone. Once again, congratulations Karen.

Lyn Ranson
A belated congratulations to Lyn on her recent marriage. We wish you much happiness.

Rotary Rat
A Rotary Rat fine is waiting on Priscilla Haden for failing to wear her Rotary pin in a recent photo taken of her in the On the Town section of the Sunday Newspaper. Also, another Rotary Rat fine waiting for Patricia Jarvis for a cell phone violation at last weeks meeting.

Gabriel Project
Again with the babies. Thanks to Mary Kathryn Saville and her “personal shopping services” the Gabriel Project has raised over $400 for baby necessities. You are the best and this is our last week to collect for yet another of our newest Signature Projects.

Take a Rotarian to Lunch Bunch
Karen Price tested out her new initiative to get better acquainted with members of our Rotary Club. As you recall, you can take a member you don't know much about to lunch and then each of you will report back to Rotary on two things you found out about that member that you did not know before lunch. It counts as a makeup meeting.

Rotary Travel Scholarship

Once again we are looking for nominations of professionals (non-Rotary members) to travel on the International Study program beginning September 7, 2007 . To find out more about travel program and the requirements go to our website and link into the District website to learn more – www.vandaliarotary.com .

Speaker Notes

We want to thank Don Broyles, Chris Earles and Peggy Stanley for talking to us about their Rotary International Travel experience last year in Australia. The three were among the 25-40 year old professionals who spent time in that country as part of the Rotary Foundation program. They traveled extensively and learned new techniques for their own business and found that Australians do much more than we Americans do on outreach efforts in International Aid work.
