Weekly Hightlights

Paul Harris Foundation
Michael Keener is the newest Fellow of the Paul Harris Foundation program. Charleston Vandalia Rotary Club members still ranks among the leaders in number of members who are also Paul Harris Fellows. Congratulations Michael.

Brags
Jim Pitrolo provided the brag this week on his daughter who competed in the Miss Teenage America pageant and won the People's Choice Award for the most number of Internet votes. Congratulations Jim and Patty for raising such an accomplished daughter.

Flag Exchange
Kris Murthy was kind enough to add to our flag exchange program by bringing us the Rotary flag of India . Thank you Kris, we will add it to the collection with pride.

Take a Rotarian to Lunch Bunch
Karen Price tested out her new initiative to get better acquainted with members of our Rotary Club. As you recall, you can take a member you don't know much about to lunch and then each of you will report back to Rotary on two things you found out about that member that you did not know before lunch. It counts as a makeup meeting.

Rotary Travel Scholarship
Once again we are looking for nominations of professionals (non-Rotary members) to travel on the International Study program beginning September 7, 2007 . To find out more about the travel program and the requirements, go to our website and link into the District website to learn more – www.vandaliarotary.com.

John Jividen Wins Again
Proving once again that some days the magic works and some days it doesn't, John Jividen again picked the winning Joker in the 50/50 drawing. He may in fact be close to rivaling Robert Chilton for luck – and I don't think either of them boasts an Irish bone in their bodies. Congratulations John.

Speaker Notes

We thank Larry McNelly for volunteering his time to work for the Employer Support of the Guard Reserve program. ESGR supports all branches of the guard in the workplace and helps those who serve with any problems they may encounter with their employers. We have 10,000 people who serve in some capacity in the national defense system so the job Larry and the other 4,200 volunteers have their work cut out for them.
